Contains a selection of printed songs and poems from the ‘Army and Navy Journal’, from the years 1816 to 1910. The documents are accompanied by a Memo Routing Slip from the Armed Forces History section of the Smithsonian Institution, with a bit of information about the Army and Navy Journal. The subject matter is of life as solders/sailors, with themes of camaraderie, homesickness, patriotism and perseverance.
