These photographs relate to a survey of Otaki people carried out by Ernest and Pearl Beaglehole in 1941-1942 and published by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research in 1946 as 'Some Modern Maoris'. The book was published without illustrations and did not identify the location of the survey.
