Contains a letter to Carrick from H.McIlhone, a number of clippings (mostly letters to the editor and reports of Parliamentary proceedings), notes and clippings glued onto pages from Parliamentary proeedings, sundry manuscript and typescript notes re travel and commerce within New Zealand and concerns about settlers' approach to Maori land.

Contains the full facsimile copy of R.M. Dick (ed.), ‘The Growing Tradition: A collection of New Zealand songs’ [unpublished]. Some annotation of the front, “further to my recent letter. Andrew Campbell.” The songs document colonial life, the New Zealand back country and soldier experience in the various wars of the 20th century [See ‘Roger Dick’ folder].

A series of handwritten and typed poetry either by or collected by Richard ‘Dick’ Clemens, and a letter of correspondence from his daughter Anne Nithe. The poems reflect New Zealand back country culture, love, drinking and revelry. Also includes some racy greeting cards. The correspondence with Anne Nithe gives the only referable date of the collection as November 8, 1976. She also gives Clemens’ lifespan, 1885-1960.

The advertisement was created by Roger Dick to seek out digger and soldier songs, and the correspondence is largely in response to this advertisement.
