A collection of handwritten notes, newspaper clippings and typed script. The documents are primarily to do with research into the history of Burnett’s Face, with the newspaper clipping discussing the mining potential of the Denniston Plateau that it sits on. The only indicated publication date is that of the newspaper clipping, 2011. The subject matter date range is 1880-2011.
Contains photos of Samuel Butler, his hut at Mesopotamia in the Rangitata and a view of Butlers saddle from the Rakaia river. Publication dates are unknown.
Contains a booklet that is bound together by metal wire. It is titled ‘Guide to the Three Passes (abt 1953), (written for a university friend)’. Provides step by step detail of the track, including hazards, accommodation and general recommendations.

The correspondence is between LC and Nicola Frean of Victoria University in which they discuss Denniston and Burnett’s Face. The publication date range is c. 1942-2009. The subject matter includes dates from 1902 onwards.
