Description

Manila folder containing 8 typed leaves of poems: 9 poems in all, two of which have handwritten correcttions. The inscription on the cover - 'Eigentum von Maria' - suggests it may have come from Maria Dronke, who was an associate of Peggy Garland during her time in Wellington.

Brief description

Two items: A carbon copy of typed transcriptions headed 'Extracts from "Diary" (autobiography) of Mrs Felton Mathews; a carbon copy of a typed transcript of a letter, dated 18th July 1940, from Mrs Mathews to her sister Margaret.

This collection consists of the typescript of and article written by Dr John [E.P.] Thomson for Kite in 1994 about the teaching of New Zealand literature at Victoria University of Wellington, and a letter to Dr Thomson from Professor Ian Gordon outlining his impressions of the topic.

Abstract

Established to 'encourage, promote and develop the practice and appreciation of culture and the arts' within the student bodies of all tertiary educational institutions, the NZSAC records include minutes, documentation of activities, and posters. The records consist chiefly of the correspondence and other documentation related to the tours and similar activities, together with financial records and council minutes, and a set of the posters advertising tours.

Description

The collection consists of 9 letters from Maria Nicholson to her cousin Elizabeth Hall, dated between March 1859 and October 1861. The letters describe her voyage on the 'Eclipse' and her observations on life and events here in New Zealand.
