Biographical note
James Adamson was born 10 June 1870 and graduated MA, LLB from the University of Edinburgh.
In January 1908 he succeeded Richard Maclaurin as Professor of Law and Dean of the Law Faculty at Victoria University College, University of New Zealand. He remained in this post until his retirement due to ill-health, in 1939. He died shortly afterwards, on 27 September 1939.
Prof. Adamson is mentioned in the index to the student journal 'The Spike : or, Victoria College review', and in the published histories of the University.
There is a retirement notice, and an obituary, in 'The Spike' v.38 no. 67, pp.13-14.
