About the Coalition for Equal Value, Equal Pay (CEVEP)

CEVEP was established 1986 after the NZ Clerical Workers Union’s claim for equal pay for work of equal value was rejected by the arbitration court. By forming networks with other interested parties, it became an umbrella group for women’s organisations and unions with an interest in advocating for pay equity policies and legislation in Aotearoa/New Zealand. As of 2020, the organisation remains active in pursuing these goals. For further information, see the website cevepnz.org.nz.

About the Counci for Equal Pay and Opportunity (CEPO)

CEPO was the predecessor organisation to CEVEP. Founded in 1957 'to bring about as soon as possible the full implementation of the principles of equal pay for equal work (or the rate for the job) and equal opportunity for women in all spheres of employment in New Zealand', CEPO went into recess in 1977, reappearing in 1987 as an affiliate of CEVEP.
