Classics: Junior lecturer, 1963-67; Lecturer, 1968-70; Senior lecturer, 1971-78; Reader, 1979-89; Retired, 1989.
Alexander Scobie lectured in Classics until forced to retire early due to developing blindness. There is a prize established in his memory.
