Biographical/Historical note

The New Zealand University Students' Association is a national federation of the Students' Associations of the seven university institutions in the country.

As well as specific concern with student welfare in all aspects and education within the universities and in general, N.Z.U.S.A. is concerned with international student and university affairs, overseas aid and a number of more general political and social issues such as race relations, disarmament and abortion law reform.

The records have been deposited over several accessions and include correspondence and documents relating to all aspects of the Association's activities, together with reports from the constituent associations, from bodies with allied interests, and from other, independent, student organisations. The bulk of the material dates from the late 1960s to 1997, but the collection includes minute books and correspondence covering the establishment of NZUSA and its running from 1928 to 1942.
