Tukuhaere Parata Hokowhitu a Tu Songbook 1954, 1948-1969
Scope and Contents
Volume with two parts front and back: The front contains handwritten songbook of 36 songs in Maori composed by using European English and Italian tunes to songs such as ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘Bono mote mio more (sic)’.
The back contains a collection of raw songs, tunes and other materials from countries such as Japan and Fiji probably to be used in future compositions. They also include Maori songs for potential use such as ‘E pa to hau’ and ‘E pari ra’ and also compositions around particular events such as the closing down of NZ television channels with the composition dated May 1969.
The back also contains Maori land block dividend information generally relating to the Whakataka family but also lists other land block holders in the South Island.
