Posters, 1977 - 1992
Scope and Contents note
This series includes posters created to publicise performances and events. The posters cover many of the acts and events handled or coordinated by NZSAC. However, the series also included a number of posters produced jointly with other arts organisations, or with sponsors, and others which appear to have been entirely independent and sent possibly on an exchange basis.
At the time of transfer there were multiple copies (up to 20 or 30) of some posters - they were purged to a maximum of six, and then cut down further. Spare copies were offered to students and to university childcare centres.
During arrangement and description in 2006 the posters were arranged into one sequence containing the best copy of each poster, which was then repaired if necessary and scanned, and a second sequence containing duplicates. Posters have been described individually using a combination of textual description and terms drawn from the 'Thesaurus for Graphic Materials' (TGM I: Subject Terms and TGM: II Genre and Physical Characteristic Terms).
The posters have a variety of copyright compliance issues because of the variety of creators potentially involved for each instance. All posters are made available for research only, under the following condition:
"This material has been copied by the Library of Victoria University of Wellington under Section 55(a) of the Copyright Act 1994. You may not modify an image or incorporate an image or part of an image in another work without the written permission of Victoria University of Wellington and the copyright owner. You must include this copyright statement in any copy that you make."
