Merrymen, 1988 - 1989

 Item
Identifier: clels4

Scope and Contents

A collection of correspondence, handwritten notes and a newsletter and order form produced by the Society of the First Division. The correspondence between LC and Mike Staggs of Anchorage, Alaska, establishes LC’s quest to learn more about a Vietnam war tune titled “The Iron Brigade” and the ‘Merrymen’ who performed it. The handwritten notes discuss the information provided by correspondents Staggs and William Hammill. The correspondence with Staggs also suggests that the collection is part of LC’s research for ‘Dark Laughter’. The date range of the collection is May 1988 – July 1989.
