Hazel Meyers, 1939 - 1946

 Item
Identifier: clels4

Scope and Contents

A collection of W.A.C. songs, originally compiled by Hazel Meyers, and retrieved by LC from the Library of Congress. Also included is the correspondence that occurred with the acquisition at the Library of Congress between Charles L. Todd of the New York Port of Embarkation and Harold Spivacke of the Library of Congress. The songs are often patriotic, pious and much less obscene than the parodies included in other war song collections. The correspondence is dated September 14, 1943. The songs themselves are undated but the subject matter suggests a date range of c. 1939-1943.
