Western Kentucky, 1941 - 1972
Scope and Contents
A collection of song lyrics, sheet music, poems and parodies retrieved from the Folklore Institute at Western Kentucky University. The material has been resourced through various informants across the U.S. who participated in WWII, the Korean War or the Vietnam War. Often included with the songs is some background information which demonstrates its folkloric relevance. The songs are often humorous and obscene. The date that LC acquired the material is unspecified, but the date range of the material itself is c. 1941-1972 (aside from one sample song taken from 1904).
