Account Book Kept by Bob Roper, Licensee of Crown Hotel Burnett's Face
Scope and Contents
A typed note inside reads, "Fortnightly account book kept by Bob Roper, licensee of Crown Hotel, Burnett's Face. Salvaged by Les Cleveland on a visit to the Face in December 1957. See also the daily running bok which Roper used to keep in the bar (in the posession of Les Cleveland). Miners were paid fortnightly, Roper would advance them for drinks etc and settle pay day or whenever he could get it. This system of accounting is common in West Coast pubs." The book is moulding and in a state of disrepair. The date range of the entries is c. 1940 - 1949.
