Scope and Contents

A collection of newspaper clippings and photocopies that briefly outline some of the ways in which economic strain in war time is dealt with, as well as detailing the pay issues of those in the Defence Force more recently. Themes include returning occupations, prison overcrowding [Russia], the New Zealand Women’s Land Service, lack of censorship, prohibition, rules of conscription and gambling. The publication date is frequently not included. However, the subject matter suggests that both the subject matter and the publication date range is c. 1914-2000.
