Charles Smith MSS
Scope and Contents
A collection of correspondence between LC, Charles Smith and Russell Smith, along with a series of Charles Smith’s recollections and poems. Documents moments of fighting and leisure for the soldiers of the North African, Crete and Italian campaigns. Also included is a letter of recognition addressed to Charles Smith from General Freyberg and an obituary for Brigadier F.M.H. Hanson. The diary entries and the poems have a date range of 1941-1945. The transcribing of material and the correspondence occurred between 1986 and 1991. Concerns events 1939-1945.
