Content Description

This is a photocopy of a typescript of an article dated 18/71960 by John Ilott about the history of the Round Table Group in New Zealand. The Round Table movement, founded in 1909, was an association of organisations promoting closer union between Britain and its self-governing colonies. A cover note by 'DJM' in 1994 states "When he wrote it in 1960, Sir John Ilott had been Hon. Treasurer of the NZ group since 1915/16". A note by Sir Frank Holmes at time of deposit states that "Several members of staff of this University [Victoria] served on the Group over the years. Fred Wood, John Shearer, Colin Aikman, George Barton, Keith Buchanan and I were members when this history was written. There was a considerable overlap of membership of this group and of the NZIIA.
